SEBRING - A Sebring man was listed in good condition at Tampa General Hospital, said hospital spokesman John Dunn on Thursday, after a rollover crash on U.S. 98 Wednesday night.
James Dennis Montsdeoca, 57, was airlifted Wednesday to Tampa in serious condition after he lost control of his 1995 Chevrolet in a curve in the 13000 block of U.S. 98.
It was about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday when Montsdeoca approached the curve headed west, while driving on the south shoulder. He attempted to regain control but overcorrected, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Chevrolet then crossed into the eastbound lane and entered a front yard at 13021 U.S. 98, where Montsdeoca overcorrected again and began to overturn.
The Chevrolet rolled over a parked 1995 Toyota Camry, hitting the vehicle's trunk and roof. The parked car suffered an estimated $2,500 in damage and the Chevrolet about $3,500. The Toyota was properly parked in the front yard, FHP noted.
The Chevrolet came to a final rest on its roof, the report stated.
Steve Coltharp is interim director for the Highlands County Emergency Medical Services. EMS responded to the crash scene.
Montsdeoca was ejected from the vehicle, he said. An Aeromed helicopter set down at U.S. 98 to carry the victim to the hospital's trauma center.
Alcohol was not a factor, the report stated. Charges were pending the completion of the crash investigation.
