Vicker Group Wins Chamber Tourney

ROY GROUP GOES LOW AT MOOSE LODGE EVENT

SEBRING - John Vicker and John Michael Vicker made winning the Sebring Chamber of Commerce's Change For Our Chamber golf tournament a family affair on Saturday at Sun 'N Lake golf resort.

The pair teamed with Danny Hammock and John McLean to cruise to victory in Flight 1 of the charity tournament, which drew more than 70 competitors to the challenging Deer Run golf course.

The group's 18-hole scramble score was a tourney-low 60, two ahead of the team of Pete Coughlin, Charlie Little, Marty Roepstorff and Courtney Gose, which fired a 10-under 62 to take second place.

Third place in the first flight was taken by the team of Chet Brojeck, Jay Jones, Chuck Best and Sandy Foster, which carded a 63.

Flight 2 was decided through a match of cards after the top two teams each shot 63. The team of James Lizotte, Phil Simonson, Rick Burstyn and Tim Coury edged the team of Mike Martino, Eric Zwayer, Clay Kinslow and Tim Vowels for first place, while the team of Jim Brooks, Dennis Tendee and George Kelly came in third with a 63.

Flight 3 was won with a 7-under 65 from the card of Gary Heintz, Dave Cox, Drew Truitt and Curtis Wendy. The team of Camiel White, Chris Gillilan, Dillan Runner and Jamie H. took second with a 67 and Jeff Spires, Howard Smiling, DJ Smiling and Ricky Carnahan took third place in the third flight with a 70.

MOOSE LODGE 2259 TOURNAMENT

SEBRING The Royal Order of Moose Lodge 2259 teed it up at Golf Hammock golf course for a good cause on Saturday, and when the scores were tabulated, the team of Bill Roy, Ken Wilkins, Jack Woodard and Jack Marceau won top honors in the A flight with a 65.

The B flight was won by the team of Bill Huff, Les Campbell, Bob Morris and Caleb Cleveland, who finished their round with a 66.

The event was a benefit for the Hansen House young women's shelter in Sebring, and more than $1,600 was raised in its honor at the fourth annual event.

Golf Hammock is also continuing to hold a summer-long fundraiser for the safe house. They're offering range balls and use of driving range on weekends throughout the summer for parents or guardians wishing to instruct junior golfers (ages 7 to 14).
