SEBRING - A Sebring man was free Friday on $5,000 bail after he was arrested and accused of pushing his pregnant girlfriend so hard into a bedroom door that it broke the door frame.
Robert Lee Davidson, 27, was charged with aggravated domestic violence battery when the offender should have known the victim was pregnant.
Sheriff's investigators reported they were called at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday to the couple's home where the 23-year-old victim met with them.
She told them that she and Davidson had lived together as a couple for the last eight months, and she is seven and a half months pregnant with their baby, according to the arrest report.
They started to argue, she told investigators, when Davidson grabbed her by both arms and pushed her against the bedroom door with such force the door frame broke as the door swung all the way through the door jam, the report stated.
Deputy James Brimlow reported seeing a scratch on the victim's leg near the calf. Her skin was broken but it was not bleeding, the report stated.
On the victim's right forearm, Brimlow reported seeing fresh torn skin, which also was not bleeding, the report stated.
Davidson was on the front porch. He reportedly acknowledged arguing with his girlfriend, but said he grabbed the victim by her arms to restrain her. He told Brimlow he pushed the victim against the wall, the report stated.
It was not clear from Brimlow's report what the couple had argued about.
