SEBRING - A broadside crash at the intersection of northbound U.S. 27 South and Orange Boulevard ended with two women being rushed to Highlands Regional Medical Center and man being airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.

Orange Boulevard is located next to the Raceway gas station.

The names and conditions of the three victims remained unknown at press time. The crash was under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The two small sedans collided at about 1:28 p.m. Friday. One car pulled out from Orange Boulevard and the second car struck the front driver's side door.

Highlands County Emergency Medical Services personnel took the two females to Highlands Regional Medical Center. They used a Jaws of Life-type device to extract the driver from one of the vehicles.

Firefighters with the DeSoto City Volunteer Fire Department closed down U.S. 27 in both directions for about 10 minutes while an Aeromed helicopter landed on U.S. 27 to take the driver to Tampa.
