AVON PARK - Hearts were pounding and smiles were flashing as participants of a three-day camp of Heartland Horses & Handicapped Inc. trotted and cantered around the arena on their last day.
Most attendees to this camp had no experience with horses when they arrived. Throughout the camp, participants learned to feed, care for, tack up and ride the eight noble steeds they were assigned.
Heartland Horses & Handicapped holds three-day riding camps on and off thorough the year.
Camps, lessons and birthday parties are only some of the ways that HHH is able to raise funds for its free horseback riding and interaction program for children and adults with special needs.
Volunteers are also needed to help. No experience is necessary.
