Homeowners Meeting To Feature Three Guest Speakers

SEBRING - The Highlands County Homeowners Association will break from tradition at its monthly meeting Monday morning by having not one but three guest speakers.
First up to the speaker's podium will be Allison Megrath, president of Land Planning Solutions and the project manager for AtlanticBlue Corporation's Blue Head Ranch future city project.
If built over the next 50 years, the project would save tens of thousands of acres of the farm for agricultural and environmental uses while a city with a population of more than 75,000 is built.
The proposed stand-alone city, which would include retail and office complexes, is still just a proposal. If it is built, it would dwarf the latest such new, stand-alone city in Florida, Ave Maria, and would be twice the land size of Tallahassee and also have more people than the state capital.
Following Megrath's presentation, two candidates for county offices in the November election will take the speaker's stand.
Bob Germaine is running for Clerk of Circuit and County Courts. The seat will be vacated by Germaine's boss, outgoing clerk of courts L.E. "Luke" Brooker, who has decided not to run for another term.
County Commissioner Andy Jackson also will address the homeowners association, whose meetings are open to the public. Jackson represents District 3-and he is running for his third consecutive four-year term.
The homeowners' meetings are held on the second Monday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sebring Country Estates Clubhouse on Grand Prix Drive about a half-mile off U.S. 27 South in Sebring.
The meetings always feature free coffee, tea and doughnuts available before and after the meeting.
Audience members are always invited to ask questions of the guest speakers.
