EAST LAKELAND - Jimmy Peck, Alex Gomez and Gerig Blackman all hit home runs, as the Sebring All-Stars defeated Spring Hill 11-5 in the semifinals of the Dixie AAA (ages 9-10) state tournament on Wednesday.
The win sets up a rematch with the undefeated West Seminole Nationals for the state title. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Thursday and Sebring will have to win twice to move for the championship.
With the score tied at 3, Blackman belted a monster grand slam over the center field fence in a game-changing moment in the fourth inning that many won't soon forget. That home run was Blackman's first of his baseball career and helped Sebring to a six-run win.
