EAST LAKELAND - EAST LAKELAND - Jason Cannon's foot looked to be on the bag at first, but the umpire called the runner safe and two batter's later the winning run crossed home plate, as Sebring lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to the West Seminole Nationals in the Dixie AAA (ages 9-10) state tournament late Tuesday night.
The game was delay for almost three hours due to rain and ended at 1 a.m. with the kids venting some obvious frustration.
Sebring coaches protested the call at first, but fell on deaf ears as the play was allowed to stand.
The see-saw affair saw the two best teams in the tournament match each other run for run until the very end.
