On June 19, my husband went into Florida Hospital Lake Placid for a routine appendectomy. The surgery went fine, but two days later he came down with shortness of breath and we soon learned he had a pulmonary embolism. The fear we all felt was unexplainable.
My husband just turned 40, has no prior health issues, is very active and eats healthy. By God's grace we were blessed with a group of medical professionals that we will never forget. Dr. Corredera and Dr. Atalla, your patience, knowledge of details and medicine and reassurance that Chris would be okay helped ease me to know that you were going to do everything necessary to get him better.
The nurses, Kelly, Valerie, Marlene, Joanne, Michelle, Scott, Maggie and Brenda, I will miss the strength, support and warmth you unconditionally gave us the nine days that we were there. All the others, the respiratory therapists (Roy and Tom,) the LPNs (Judy and Jenna,) we appreciated everything you did for us.
You are all an amazing team of people. We thank you and will remember you always.
