Team Bayless Captures Winter Golf Classic

SEBRING –– Taking advantage of ideal scoring conditions, the team of Elgin Bayless, Eric Moore and Andrew Katsanis shot a 13-under-par 59 to win the Championship Flight of Highland Regional Medical Center's Winter Golf Classic on Saturday.

The one-day, 18-hole tournament attracted a field of 96 golfers, who played a four-person scramble format over the demanding 6,700-yard, par 72 Turtle Run course at Sun N Lake Country Club.

Placing second in the Championship Flight with an 11-under 61 was the talented team of Bonnie Lennox, Ron Lennox, Ronnie Sites and Mike Sayres.

Finishing third with a 62 was the foursome of Jay Jones, Sandy Foster, Chet Brojek and Doug Singletary.

The First Flight was won by the team of Wes Vaughn, Wayne Hunnewell, Mike Moore and Darren Sapp with a 63.

Placing second with a 65 was Greg Griffin, Pete McDevitt, Bob Swaine and John Payne, while Jason Waller, Jim Morris, Harry Johnson and Paul Talbert claimed third with a 66.

The Second Flight was won by the team of Donna Snyder, Kim Schlosser, Dr. Carlos Gonzalez and Dr. Luis Pena with an 8-under 64.

Placing second with a 66 was the foursome of Tom Griffin, Carl Cool, Jeff Carlson and Ken Poe, while Larry White, John O'Neal, Sonny O'Brien and Dan Harpur finished third with a 68.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were T.C Lackey in the Championship Flight on hole No. 12, while Mike Lamp won the First Flight honors on hole No. 2 and Dan Harpur won the Second Flight award on hole No. 15.

Longest drive winners were Mike Sayre in the Championship Flight, while Mike Lamp won the First Flight and Mike Titzler captured the Second Flight.

Closest-to-the-line winners were Bonnie Lennox in the Championship Flight, while Bob Swaine won the First Flight and Ken Poe took home the honors in the Second Flight.

The proceeds from the Winter Classic went to the Sebring Chamber of Commerce.
