Thousands of people in Highlands County, apparently in record numbers, took advantage of early voting and cast their ballots.
That's good because it reduces the number of people who show up on election day, which reduces congestion at the precincts.
The Presidential Preference Primary Election is Tuesday. Democrats and Republicans are choosing their party's nominee. All citizens can vote for or against a constitutional amendment for a property tax cut.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Supervisor of Elections Joe Campbell suggests that those who are able to go to the polls at any time of day do so during the slack periods of 10 – 11:30 a.m. and 2 – 4:30 p.m.
Voters are reminded that they must bring a photo ID and a signature ID to the polls. A Florida driver's license is the most commonly used form of identification. However, there are several other forms of photo ID that are acceptable.
We urge all qualified registered voters, if they haven't already, to do their civic duty. There are only two issues on the ballot, but they are both very important.
