AVON PARK — The next Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (REAL) class is scheduled to start on Feb. 18.
The class will be held each Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. for 12 weeks at the South Florida Community College campus in Avon Park.
REAL is a private enterprise initiative by the University of South Florida's Small Business Development Center at SFCC.
The course is for existing business owners as well as those who are thinking of starting a business. The purpose of the REAL program is to foster local economic development through self-employment.
Area professionals including bankers, attorneys, a CPA, an insurance agent and a franchise owner share their expertise during the course.
To date, 26 attendees have been awarded certificates of completion.
Those who attend the class will research and explore business operations, financial, and marketing while building a customized written business plan for their venture.
The cost is $100. However, those who complete the course may be eligible for a $90 refund.
The course will end on May 5.
