ROUNDUP: Bulldogs Bounce Blue Streaks

ARCADIA — Sebring's Whitney Lee hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer as time expired, but the Blue Streak girls basketball team still fell by the smallest of margins on Monday night, falling to DeSoto 31-30 in Class 4A-District 10 action.

The loss drops Sebring (8-3 in district) into a tie for first with one district game to play.

Hannah Shoop had 10 points and 13 rebounds to pace Sebring, which also had seven points from Whitney Less and six points from Emmanice McCullors.

The Streaks were held to five points at half, but fought back from a seven-point disadvantage to bring the game within one (22-21) at the end of three.

The game was tied at 25 late but the Bulldogs pulled away on the strength of hitting seven of eight free throws. Sebring closes out its district season at home against Braden River on Friday night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:
Okeechobee 48, Lake Placid 17

LAKE PLACIDLake Placid ran into a tough Okeechobee squad Monday night falling at home, 48-17. No further information was available.

The Green Dragons are in action again on Friday night, when they host Frostproof.

Avon Park 42, Lake Wales 36

AVON PARK — The Avon Park girls basketball team knocked off Lake Wales at home on Monday night, 42-36. No further information was available.

The Red Devils took on Hardee on Tuesday night before battling DeSoto on Friday at home. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.
