PALMETTO - PALMETTO - After gutsy performances on Monday night catapulted the Sebring and Avon Park girls soccer teams into the second round of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament, both the Blue Streaks and Red Devils met their match on Tuesday night.
No. 3-seeded Sebring was eliminated in the early game, falling to No. 2-seeded Braden River by a 2-0 mark, while No. 4 seed Avon Park couldn't slow down top-seeded Palmetto in the nightcap, falling 8-0.
The Streaks allowed both their goals on direct kicks, one in the first half and the second on a header late in the match.
The Red Devils managed just one shot on goal and watched Palmetto scored seven goals in the first half before icing the game 14 minutes into the second.
