SEBRING — Sebring Parkway will be closed Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., between Sandra Boulevard and Ben Eastman Road as Progress Energy relocates seven high-voltage cables at the Scenic Highway intersection.
County Engineer Ramon Gavarrete said the parkway will close around that intersection to begin work on a new traffic signal at Scenic Highway.
A detour will be marked, directing eastbound traffic to take Sandra Boulevard to Lakeview Drive, turn left and head to Ben Eastman Road before turning left to head back to the parkway. That route will be reversed for westbound traffic.
Gavarrete said the mast arms for the traffic signals will "arrive" in another 15 to 30 days. He anticipates a working traffic signal at Scenic Highway and Sebring Parkway in the next 45 days.
