LAKE MARY – AT&T announced that it is expanding wireless coverage in Highlands County with the activation of a new cell site in Lorida.
The new cell site, on Arbuckle Creek Road, is providing additional coverage in the new residential and business growth areas of Highlands County that are west of Sebring along U.S. 98 North.
AT&T plans to add approximately 12 new cell sites in Central Florida in 2008.
The company has invested more than $800 million in the Florida wireless network since 2005 to improve coverage and expand its 3G footprint, which, in Central Florida, includes Orlando and Lakeland.
Its wireless broadband network delivers typical download speeds ranging from 600 to 1,400 Kbps. The 3G high speed network makes it possible for customers to use advanced, on-the-go wireless services such as Video Share, which allows users to share live video during a wireless call; CV, a video-clips-on-demand service; and AT&T Mobile Music, the most comprehensive wireless music offering in the industry.
"This expansion is evidence of our ongoing commitment to investing in the state of Florida," said Marshall Criser III, president of AT&T Florida. "The investments by AT&T will have a positive impact at both the state and community levels, in addition to the benefits that our customers will receive."
