Saturday night, we had an emergency with one of our 6-week-old kittens. He got a fish hook caught in his mouth. Well, we called the local veterinarians to get some help, but it turned out the closest place we could take the kitten is Winter Haven and pay $89. We could not do that for two reasons; no transportation and no money.
That got us to wondering, why doesn't Highlands County have a mobile veterinary clinic that could come to where people live, especially those who do not have a car? Also, why can't it be free to those of us who are on an extremely limited income?
If someone has any ideas on this, call us at 453-7010. By the way, part of the hook has been cut but as of this writing, part is still lodged in his mouth.
