LAKE PLACID — The Schooni's Family Restaurant team rallied from seven runs down and then held off the Michelle Yates Insurance team for a 15-14 victory in Lake Placid senior softball league play on Wednesday at the Lake June Ball fields.
The tying run was on third base and the winning run was on second when the final out was recorded.
Manager Jim Guild had a bases-loaded triple to lead the rally for Schooni's. Cliff Bluml and Howard Carney each contributed three hits and several others had two hits for the winners.
The Yates attack was led by Duke Hensley with a home run, a triple and two doubles. Charley Quinn had two doubles among his three hits and Fred Moore had a double and a single for the Yates team.
On the other field, Central Security topped Seminole Tire by a score of 15-11. Tom Walsh was 4 for 4 and Ray Heisenberg, John Miller and Dana Hurlbut each had three hits for the winners.
Spider Ross had a home run and Wayne Hill had three hits, including a triple. Frank Hedges, Gary Vann, George Lavoie and Harley Smith added two hits each in the losing effort.
The win gave Schooni's sole possession of first place in the league with a record of 6-4, followed closely by Yates and Central Security only 1/2 game back with records of 6-5, and Lake Placid Marine one game back at 5-5 in the well-balanced league.
The hard-luck Seminole Tire team trails in the league at 3-6. League play continues through March.
