Kart Racing Coming To The Racetrack

Published: February 21, 2008

SEBRING — Even 5-year-olds will now be able to start their engines and feel the wind in their faces at Sebring International Raceway.

International Motorsports Academy (IMA) will start racing at the racetrack Saturday. Racers will navigate a newly constructed quarter mile auto-cross track on a skid pad, and not the 3.7-mile international circuit.

Owner Jean-Sebastien Sauriol, a veteran race car driving instructor, will offer racing programs for both children and adults, including Kart racing schools, rental karts and group events, including team endurance races and sprint races.

Team racers and private groups will be able to use the IMA to support charities or for fundraising opportunities.

Kids might race at speeds of up to 35 mph, and adult Kart riders can hit 110 mph on a long straight away, according to Jennifer Sauriol, of IMA.

A spectator pit pass costs $10, and adults can get three hours of "seat time" during a four-hour lesson, starting at $295 for adults. Register online at www.imracing.com.
