Sun N' Lake Problems

Published: February 18, 2008

The Sun N' Lake Special Improvement District of approximately 3,000 people is governed by five puppet supervisors, elected by landowners only. Two out of three are landowners from all over the western hemisphere (USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, South America and Mexico) who can vote to elect a supervisor to govern and tax the residents of this district.

How long must the residents endure this abuse from this government? The abuses are practiced in communist countries, but, we are the democratic United States of America?

The election ballot published Feb. 10 in the local newspapers stated only registered landowners could vote, owner or spouse. Is this not a violation of their civil rights as guaranteed by our federal Constitution?

I am amazed that a supervisor of elections would spend taxpayers' monies to publish such trash. He must be totally ignorant of our Constitution, its Amendments, Bill of Rights and especially the Civil Rights of the U.S. citizens.

There has not be a legal government in the district of Sun N' Lake since 1995 when the original developer went bankrupt. The charter was for the developer only, not for a civil government, period.

Articles 9-106 and 9-107 of the charter cannot be used for a legal civil government to govern and tax. How long must the residents of this district endure this abuse of their legal rights before the county commissions pull the plug on these obvious and known abuses? I believe I owe my many friends who gave their all to protect and honor these rights.
