The cold fronts, which the weather reporters keep showing, never seem to get much farther south than Orlando. We may not see any freezing temperatures this year. And the chance of getting any appreciable rain also will not happen.
I am supposing that we must have gotten at least one good freeze because I see that most of the citrus groves fruits are ready for harvesting. But if this climate warming continues will the growers, who depend upon the freezing climate and rain, be able to continue? Watering restrictions will include not only homeowners but the growers also?
Will It Rain Again In April?
I was in the an area about 50 miles north of Orlando and the many lakes in Lake County are also very low and most docks have dry sand beneath them just as I do.
If we were to advertise our home for sale I would have to brag how we now have beach-front property and access to Lake Grassy but only when using a canoe.
About 15 miles north of Avon Park, alongside U.S. 27, are approximately 200-400 acres of just planted perfectly aligned 10-inch high citrus sprigs. I would guess that these entrepreneurs are not at all convinced that there is a major climate change going on. While I don't like the idea I certainly believe we are changing and not for the good.
There seem to be a large number of developers still trying to entice buyers to come to Florida and buy homes in their developments and virtually all of them have many houses unsold and still more under construction. These wannabe millionaires are way too optimistic as far as I am concerned.
Political Possibility?
My brother, Dan, in South Florida, is a diehard Republican and must be really worried about what the results of our 2008 election might be because he sent me the following.
Last night I had the strangest dream. It was so real, so life-like and so vivid I woke up in a cold sweat. Let me describe it to you briefly.
Hillary wins the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States. Naturally, she wants to choose as her running mate someone with a lot of knowledge and experience in government and foreign affairs, someone who is a seasoned campaigner who could bring a lot of strength to the ticket.
Who better than Bill, her husband?
Hill and Bill go on to win the election in November and the Democrats maintain control of the House and the Senate.
Hillary is sworn in as President on Jan. 20, 2009. The next day, after all the inauguration parties are over, she calls a press conference to make an announcement: She is resigning as president!
Bill, as the vice president, immediately becomes president!
This is all perfectly legal under the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, for it states that "no person may be elected as president more than twice."
Bill is not being elected for a third term but is merely serving out the remainder of Hillary's term – all four years of it.
But wait, there's more!
The following day Bill calls a press conference to make an announcement. He has chosen someone to fill the now vacant office of vice president.
Guess who he picks? Why, Hillary, of course! So she can run for two more terms.
