The Avon Park Police Department has announced in a press release that Paul Dian Hamilton, 33, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. and taken into custody by officials with the APPD and the Tampa Police Department.

According to the release, APPD detectives developed leads that identified that Hamilton was in the Tampa area. Hamilton was arrested at 1011 E. Comanche Ave.

According to the release, Hamilton was in possession of a carry-on bag containing clothing, identification, a passport and money at the time of his arrest.

Hamilton allegedly attacked Cadean Camille Campbell, 27, in a driveway near the 400 block of West Hall Street, in Avon Park.

As of Thursday morning, Campbell was in critical condition at a local trauma center.

Hamilton reportedly left the scene of the incident in a black 1997 Ford F-150 truck with a Florida license plate, which detectives seized at another location in Tampa following Hamilton's arrest.

"This case was resolved as a result of the hard work, dedication and innovative techniques of the police department," said interim Police Chief Michael Rowan in the release.

Hamilton is currently being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bond.
