AVON PARK — The Avon Park Police Department is looking for a suspect in an attempted murder that took place at noon on Sunday, off of West Hall Street.
Paul Dian Hamilton, 33, is wanted for attempted second-degree murder for allegedly attacking Cadean Camille Campbell, 27, and severely cutting her with an undetermined instrument in a driveway near the 400 block of West Hall Street.
A press release from the police department issued on Monday said that Campbell is in critical condition at a nearby trauma center.
Hamilton reportedly left the scene of the incident in a black 1997 Ford F-150 truck with a Florida license plate number I33HMU.
Highlands County Emergency Services officials could not confirm due to privacy reasons if Campbell was the one airlifted except to say that someone was airlifted from the Bealls Department Store parking lot around noon on Sunday and transported to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center. The Avon Park Police Department was investigating the situation.
"Obviously, because of the nature of this crime, we can't release a number of specifics," said Avon Park Interim Chief of Police Michael Rowan.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department at 863-453-6622 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
