One Charged In Robbery Of Pizza Man

SEBRING — Pizza delivery men can breathe a collective sigh of relief with the arrest of a suspect in the reported armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver on Jan. 6, on Lola Drive.

Damen Jerome Flowers, 20, of 4127 Navarre Ave., Sebring, remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond Thursday, charged with armed robbery with a firearm.

It was about 8:49 p.m. Jan. 6, when a Pizza Hut delivery driver went to the 700 block of Lola Drive and was met by two hooded men, one with a gun.

"The suspect ordered the victim to drop the pizza bag and leave," the arrest report stated.

It was a K-9 track from Lola Drive that led onto a dirt path between two houses under construction, to a residence and eventually to an arrest.

Two sets of foot prints found at the scene matched two sets leading through the dirt path and toward a house.

Investigators talked with a person the report only refers to as Suspect No. 2, who told deputies he was alone in the house. He appeared nervous and defensive, the report stated. He would not give permission for deputies to come in and look around.

Deputies developed information leading to Flowers and two suspects, who remained unnamed Thursday.

Flowers reportedly later admitted he and one suspect were playing video games when they got hungry and came up with the idea to rob a pizza delivery person. He claimed the gun was a replica, the report stated.
