A Waste?

Published: February 6, 2008

I notice that the Republican aspirants to the presidency who are giving up are backing John McCain. None of them even mention Mitt Romney. Even our Gov. Charlie Crist makes a big "to do" about backing McCain.

On reflecting on this situation, I thought back to the so-called debates in which these men participated. None of them ever talked about fixing Social Security and they steered clear of the economy. The only one that offered any ideas as what could be done to fix these two serious situations was Mitt Romney.
This led me to the conclusion that Romney is quite a bit more intelligent than the others, that he is not a career politician like the others. He is using his own money for his campaigning, which will leave him unbeholding to any special interests or individuals. He really wants to help his country.

When McCain talks about how conservative he is, I cringe. His record shows that he joined Ted Kennedy and voted for "amnesty" for illegal immigrants. He has voted against repealing the "death tax." He has helped to thwart the president's attempts to put more conservative judges on the bench. All of this is a matter of record. When it all boils down, he is not too different than a Democrat.

In my opinion, if the nominees for president are Hillary Clinton and John McCain, it would be a waste of time to vote as there would be no philosophical difference in the candidates.
