SEBRING — A Sebring man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $80,000 bail Wednesday, charged by Sebring police with armed robbery of a Circle K store and pistol whipping the clerk.

Tanijel Keheir Robinson, 18, of 106 Shannon Way, was initially arrested on Jan. 18 as a suspect in an attempted burglary and aggravated battery while armed on a Sebring man outside of his Ferdinand Avenue home.

On Jan. 23, Sebring Police Criminal Investigations Division Investigator Raymond Rossy reported he met with Robinson in the jail to talk to him about the armed robbery of the Circle K at 10:15 p.m. Oct. 20.

The store is located at 3030 U.S. 27 S.

"As I interviewed Robinson in reference to this case, Robinson confessed to participating in the robbery of the Circle K," Rossy reported. "Robinson stated that he and three other suspects were involved in the robbery."

Robinson knew details only the victim and the suspects would have known, the report stated.
Robinson further admitted to being the subject with the gun, which he described as a revolver, the report stated. However, he would not admit he hit the clerk, even though he said he was the only one with a gun, according to the report.

Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr said Wednesday the case remains under investigation.
"We have identified the other suspects and are actively working toward arresting these individuals also," Carr said.

Robinson has been charged with armed robbery with a firearm and battery. The four only made off with about $80.

The clerk was pistol-whipped when she could not get into the store's safe, which she did not have access to.

Luck was on the side of an unsuspecting customer that night, who walked into the store during the robbery. The suspects managed to hide behind the counter until the customer went into the restroom, giving them time to leave the store.
