Sebring Rolls Past LaBelle

SEBRING — Three Blue Streaks scored in double figures on Friday night to lead the Sebring boys basketball team to a 73-42 victory over LaBelle in the Streaks' final regular season game.

Chris Grubb had 14 points, T.J. Williams had 13 and Sam Robinson added 11 in Sebring's final tune-up before the district tournament, which begins Tuesday at Palmetto.

"We didn't play well at first, but we switched some things up and forced some turnovers," said Sebring coach Princeton Harris. "Our biggest thing now is staying humble — we haven't won anything yet."

The Streaks, seeded No. 3 in the district tournament, take on No. 6 seed Palmetto on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. For complete coverage, see Thursday's Highlands Today and highlandstoday.com/sports.

SOFTBALL: Sebring 7, Moore Haven 6

MOORE HAVEN — Nikki Helms threw five strong innings, Sam Lower hit a solo home run and Melissa Luke was 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the Blue Streaks to a 7-6 victory over the hosts in the Moore Haven early bird softball tourney.

The Streaks also picked up a victory on Thursday night, when they toppled LaBelle by a 6-4 margin. The season officially begins on Tuesday, when Sebring travels to Hardee for a 7:30 first pitch.

SOFTBALL: Clewiston 18, Lake Placid 0

CLEWISTON — The Lake Placid softball team ran into a tough Clewiston squad, falling 18-0. They dropped their previous match on Thursday against Bishop Verot, though coach Marilyn Jones said the team performed much better in a 13-8 loss.

The Dragons next host Sebring on Thursday at 7 p.m.
