It was my pleasure last Saturday to attend the Lake Placid Garden Club's fashion show at the Lake Placid High School. It was clear how much hard work had gone into these beautiful surroundings.
The "main" room was a "show place," lovely table cloths and napkins and small gift packages for all. The food was delicious and quickly served by the high school students.
Then came the fashion show, with styles to please anyone. Models were the garden club ladies, showing off, who really entertained us with graceful walks, struts and some dancing. These clothes were generously donated by: The Lake Placid Feed and Western Wear, Loie's Boutique, The Plum Tree, Steve and Company, Sue's Cubby Hole, and Tropical Island Wear.
There were great door prizes donated by our local merchants. I counted 37 winners. The opportunity prizes were outstanding, donated by local jewelers and garden club members. With this being a sold out event, everyone left as a "winner."
We thought it just couldn't get any better, but it did when out came our local great singer Marti Capodfiferro and sang several of her good songs. She and the entire cast received a well deserved standing ovation.
I would be remiss if I failed to tell you that this money received by the garden club goes to scholarships for children to attend high school, continuing education, Archbold Ecology Camp and Wekiva Camp. The garden club does lots of beautification in and around Lake Placid, Avon Park and Sebring. Thank you all. These are such small words, but comes from our hearts.
