Today is a very special day; it is a time that's happy too.

I thank all those who serve to preserve our freedom and liberty: the military service man and woman, our law enforcement officers and the civil personnel. We are so proud of you and we wish you life's best.

It's hard to avoid using words like splendid and stunning to describe the passion of the best job ever. Your dedication to serve and to protect life and property is immensely powerful. It is an exquisite delight to have unique people like you.

As we approach this New Year, we thank God for the miracle of God's goodness, grace and glory, reflected in the everlasting love of these individuals. We honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. To their families, friends and fellow officers, we thank you most profoundly. To the civil personnel, without you it will be impossible to see the light at the other side of the tunnel. Thank you.

May you always be protected from evil. May God continue to be the shield to protect and guide you. May you always be happy in God's love and care. May you always come home safely to your loved ones and may God continue to be with you, today and always.
