LAKE PLACID - A Miami man remained in jail Tuesday on no bond following his weekend arrest for allegedly molesting a victim under the age of 12.
Charles Reginald Ivey, 49, was arrested Saturday and charged with lewd or lascivious behavior for molesting a victim less than 12 years of age, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The victim was reportedly woken from their sleep by Ivey through inappropriate touching. The victim also advised no sexual intercourse had taken place.
Ivey is reportedly a friend of another person connected to the victim, although that person's name and specific relation were redacted from the arrest report. The suspect had traveled from Miami with this person and the victim to a residence in Venus, which is south of Lake Placid.
Another unidentified person provided authorities with a sworn statement advising they and Ivey were consuming "illegal narcotics" in a bedroom while the victim was on a couch in the living room, according to the arrest report. The defendant left the bedroom saying he was going to take a shower, before returning between 15 and 20 minutes later.
Ivey gave a sworn statement to authorities alleging he had used a pipe to smoke crack cocaine and he had used it within the past 24 hours, the report stated. A field test on the item reportedly yielded positive results for cocaine.
Barbara Hair, an investigator with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office's Special Victims Unit, made the arrest.
