I am no fan of George W. Bush but I agree with your Dec. 17 editorial.
George Bush has made any mistakes during his second term; a term he should never have been re-elected to. Those who voted for his re-election obviously were not paying attention to what was going on around them. On the other hand he really had no opposition.
Bush's biggest mistake was the selection of sour Colin Powell as Secretary of State. Powell will go down in history as the poorest performing person to ever hold that important post and it was flawed intelligence that led us to war. Powell was the individual who convinced the world that he knew Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and would use them against his enemies.
Unfortunately, Bush bought into that big lie and it cost us many, many dead and maimed young people and is the chief reason we are in such dire financial straits.
