SEBRING - Even a struggling economy couldn't keep the caring people in the Heartland from turning out to support the second annual Handicapped American's Love of Life Organization charity golf tournament.

The 18-hole event used a four-person scramble format and was held Saturday at the tight and demanding Sebring Golf Club.

Each team had an assigned handicap and when all the eagles and birdies were totaled, the talented foursome of Ronald Fronva, Ed Dela Cuava, Rommel Asumen and Ramon Torres finished first in the First Flight with a net score of 45.5.

The quartet of Colon Anderson, Clyde Aldridge, Claude Crick and Richard Phillips placed second with a 46 and Bobby Fulcher, Mike Browning, Grover Crawford and Rene Brown came in third with a 47.5.

The team of Bill Coghill, Diane Coghill, Sonya Spatafore and Ron Spatafore claimed fourth with a 48.5, while Wayne Goodlett, Marshall Kilroy, Roland Bates and Ed Measday finished fifth at 50.5.

In the Second Flight, the talented foursome of Carol LaCroix, Carolyn Sheraden, Barb Sheasley and Carolyn Howerton finished first with a net score of 43.2.

The quartet of Thomas Gaiownik, Kenny Stanek, Barbara Gaiownik and Derek Overly placed second with a score of 45, while Mike Basile, Robin Carney, Harry Marsh and Joseph Dionne came in third at 46.

Bobbi Dorman, Chris Young, Birdie Dorman and Brenda Dorman claimed fourth with a 46.7, while Debbie Reith, Jack Reith, Thomas Reith and Ron Wilson finished fifth with a 55.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Carolyn Sheraden on hole No. 3 and Mike Browning on hole No. 11.

The golf tournament was a fundraiser for the HALLO group in the Heartland.
