It's unfortunate that Mr. Parks ignored the part of my letter that said that the rumors of $75 an hour autoworkers had been debunked by mainstream news outlets. Maybe he doesn't understand the word "debunked".
It means, Mr. Parks, that the information is untrue! Of course we see this all the time. People chose to believe what they want to believe. Mr. Parks said that autoworkers are lazy and dishonest. I've worked in construction, the auto industry, academics, governmental, did a hitch in the military, and ran my own company for eight years, finally settling in on a career in the high tech industry. My experience taught me that auto workers are no better or no worse than any other workers. Some are good and some are not so good.
I worked for the auto industry for four years. The jobs I had were hot, dirty and extremely tough; tough enough that it convinced me to go to college to get a better job. Everyone else's job looks easy until you do it. If you are truly interested in what is killing the U.S. auto industry rent the movie-doc "Who Killed the Electric Car."
