AVON PARK - - With great weather and ideal scoring conditions, the Avon Park High School Project Graduation golf tournament on Saturday featured a lot of eagles and birdies.
The annual Avon Park High School fundraiser used a four-person scramble format over 18 holes at a well-manicured River Greens Golf Club.
Winning the First Flight gross division with a score of 56 was the talented quartet of Paul McCormac, Tom Moway, Russ Rudd and Larry Roy, while the team of Greg Kramer, Matt Shallack, Dennis Crews and Jady Prescott won the First Flight net division with a 52.
The Second Flight winners in the gross division was the foursome of Jim Brooks, Rick Helms, Dave Greenslade and Dennis Tondee with a score of 64.
The group of Jerry Robinson, Courtney Robinson, Larry Olson and Craig Snelgrove won the Second Flight net division with a score of 54.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Greg Long on hole No. 3, Dick Brennan on No. 5, Tom Stewart on No. 12 and Jimmy Tsakalos on No. 17.
Bo Jackson won the longest drive contest, while Dennis Tondee won the closest-to-the-line competition.
