SEBRING - The National FFA organization recently selected, from a pool of more than 60 candidates nationwide, the Sebring High School FFA Chapter as a three-star winner in the National FFA Chapter Award program.
The award program is sponsored by Toyota as a special project of the national FFA Foundation. The National FFA Chapter Award program recognizes FFA chapters for developing and conducting a detailed Program of Activities.
Each activity provides opportunities for members to excel in one of three areas: student, chapter or community development.
Every year, chapters are recognized as having earned a one, two or three-star rating on their application. The three-star rating is the highest level of accomplishment a chapter may achieve.
Sebring was one of only 29 Florida chapters to receive the National Chapter Award, with fewer than 10 receiving the three-star distinction.
Sebring has received the award numerous times over the years and is ranked high each year for its well-rounded program of activities.
For example in community development some of the many activities include: participation in parades, Ag Venture, adopt a family at Christmastime, provide a Thanksgiving basket to a needy family, visit an assisted living facility, participate in Ag Literacy Day in elementary schools, participate in Samaritan's Purse shoebox project and much more.
Sebring FFA membership usually runs around 65-70 members each year and really adheres to the 2008-09 theme of Step Up and Stand Out.
