This letter is to thank Robert K. Munsell, USAF retired, for defending John McCain.

I am amazed at the junk people write based on things they know nothing about. The only one who can understand a combat veteran is another combat veteran.

If you haven't been in the lion's mouth day in and day out, 24-7 for months, and maybe years, you have nothing to say of importance in that regard.

I once read a very profound statement about war.

It was written by an English philosopher who lived over 200 years ago.

He said "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
