SEBRING - The Avon Park location where the Heartland Workforce Mobile One-Stop visits has changed.
The 38-foot vehicle is a transportable computer lab and resource room on wheels, created for both employers and job seekers to avail themselves of the myriad of workforce services. Some of the features include 13 computer workstations, satellite Internet connection, printers, television with VCR/DVD, fold-out awnings and an access lift for wheelchairs.
The workforce vehicle will be in Avon Park near Big Lots on U.S. 27 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
It will continue to park at Seacoast Bank in Lake Placid on the third Thursday of the month during the same hours.
The vehicle travels to Arcadia on the first Thursday and in Wauchula on the fourth Thursday.
Employers have utilized the vehicle for pre-employment services such as screening and testing, and post employment training. Job seekers are provided with assistance in searching for positions, resume creation and interview skills.
Alan Grimes, regional operations director, said Heartland Workforce is looking for new locations in the communities that it serves. Grimes may be reached at 385-3672.
In addition to providing accessible support for employers and job seekers, the vehicle available to provide employment related disaster assistance within the region, as well as other Workforce regions in Florida and other states if necessary.
It is also uised for on-site hiring events such as job fairs, or Business Expositions to allow the business community knowledge of the many services available. Dislocated worker assistance was recently provided to businesses experiencing layoffs, plant closings, and facility loss due to disaster.
