LEESBURG - The South Florida Community College volleyball team pushed Lake Sumter CC to the limit on Friday night, but it wasn't enough to pull off the Panthers' first victory of the season in a 10-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 13-15 defeat to the Lakers.
"They made an outstanding comeback," said SFCC assistant coach Charlotte Bauder, who noted the Panthers adjusted their lineup a bit heading into the third set. "Even with the loss, we were really pleased to see them come together as a team and fight back as hard as they did being down two sets to none."
Emmalee Luther led the Panthers with 15 kills and three solo blocks, while Sheeva Noshirvan had nine kills and 20 digs. Heloise Antony added 13 digs, while setter Brie Engle had 40 assists, one solo block and three block assists.
SFCC is back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, when they host Webber International University's JV squad at Panther Gym.
