LAKE PLACID - Water management officials will set controlled burns in the Jack Creek area north of Lake June during the next two months, according to a press release from the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
The fires will be set in a 250-acre property that is a mile west of U.S. 27 and three miles south of State Road 66, approximately 6 miles northwest of Lake Placid.
Controlled burns are set to get rid of excessive vegetation and dead undergrowth, which could fuel an uncontrolled wildfire.
