LAKE PLACID - Councilman Bill Brantley made his resignation official at Tuesday's special town council meeting.
Brantley is relocating his family to a new home located just outside town borders. As a non-resident, Brantley was unable to complete his four-year term, which runs until April 2008.
Council plans to vote for a replacement for the four-member board at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Resumes are sought by Arlene Tuck, town clerk, at Lake Placid Town Hall. Applicants might be interviewed Sept. 8 by council.
Ray Royce, councilman, said on Wednesday that two town residents expressed a formal interest in the position.
Carol Smart, an LPA member and Lynn Connolly, who ran for a council seat in the April, contacted Royce in writing.
Budget Seemingly Settled
Council was presented with a concise and balanced utilities budget at Tuesday's meeting.
John Davis, of town auditor Wicks, Brown and Williams, and staff helped craft a balanced budget. The new budget will be advertised two times at public meetings, with final approval to likely follow.
Royce and the council pushed for better documentation and clarification of earlier versions of the water department budgets.
"This brought some comfort to the council, to know it's more accurate," said Royce.
