Speakers Set For Green Workshop

•9 a.m. Opening remarks by John Alleyne, director of the county extension office.

•9:15 a.m. "Challenges Facing Florida's Heartland" by Teresa Watkins of the Southwest Florida Water Management District

•9:45 a.m. "Energy Options in Florida's Heartland" by Gregory Hill and James Pooler of Progress Energy

•10:15 a.m. "Turning Green into Gold - Green Benefits for Home Owners" by Karin Stewart, an FGBC certifying agent for Upland Homes Inc.

•10:45 a.m. Questions and Answers sessions, in which people can ask questions of any of the morning's speakers

•11 a.m. Break, to allow people to meet with the vendors, see their exhibits, and get "freebies" and "goodies"

•11:30 a.m. "Water Conservation Adaptations" by Mike Dukes, an associate professor at the University of Florida

• Noon "Save Water While You Save Energy" by Dee Dee Jacobson, Highlands County Extension agent for environmental horticulture
•12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Free Lunch for every person at Agri-Civic Center event

•1:15 p.m. "Going Solar in Florida" by Craig Williams, executive director of the Florida Renewable Energy Association
•2:45 Break

•3 p.m. "Learning about Insulation Concrete Forms" by Doug Eltze, territory manager for Greenblock Worldwide

•3:30 p.m. "Green Insulation Options for the Homeowner" by Jim Ritter and Mike Carpenter of West Coast Insulation of Central Florida

•4 to 5 p.m. Raffles, prizes and give-aways for people at the workshop

Note: John Alleyne, director of the county extension office, said several more speakers, who will talk five to 10 minutes, may be added to the program
