AVON PARK - Rebuilding Together of Highlands County will hold a sale at its Avon Park warehouse, 2470 N. Azalea Drive, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Aug. 16 that will feature a variety of items donated by people whose homes have been rehabilitated by the volunteer organization.
"There are air conditioners, kitchen cabinets, a water heater, a microwave, computer monitors, and all sorts of other things that are taking up needed space," said Paul Devlin, president of the local affiliate of Rebuilding Together. "We even have unopened gallons of paint.
"If you're interested," Devlin added, "bring the kids or grandkids. They can have a hot dog and a soft drink for only 25 cents each. We'll be cooking out and cleaning out."
The Rebuilding Together warehouse is located beneath the Avon Park water tower. To get there, go about 2.5 miles north of Main Street on U.S. 27 and take a left at the Citgo station onto Allamanda Boulevard. Then take the first left. The warehouse is on the left.
Rebuilding Together is the nation's largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization serving the needs of low income, disabled and elderly people, as well as families with children.
