The Republicans had control of Congress for over 12 years and were responsible in committee for oversight; checks and balances for the  three branches is the basis. Yet Americans are on the verge of destruction in many areas that cried for oversight. From bank and mortgage fraud and infusing taxpayer dollars into the stock market for speculators and profiteers I am reminded of the big crash of years ago.
Scandal and thievery has rocked Congress because those Republicans and senators got greedy. Taxpayers are bailing out Bears and Sterns now Indy-Mac, Freddy-Mac and Fannie-Mae are all in line for money as a result of oversight. World-Com, and Enron used creative accounting to destroy those companies and Republicans did nothing; corruption, gifts, payoffs and bribes will continue to surface.
False intelligence led us to a two front war with Iran in the middle so do not be surprised that the next domino will be Iran, because of failed Republican foreign policies that have left us with more enemies than before the two wars. Ike warned us years ago that when the military industrial complex gets on a roll it is hard to stop because an economy based on wars needs wars and big businesses that profiteer from war be conjoined.
We have a Supreme Court that ruled any government, state, local or federal can claim eminent domain for a shopping mall, yet we are letting U.S Sugar hold Floridians hostage for billions when we should claim or re-claim the Everglades they ruined by eminent domain, and pay nothing because we will be paying for all of those lost jobs.
If anyone thinks that for one minute that Saddam would let Al Qaeda operate in Iraq then they are sadly mistaken because he would not let anyone upstage his power; thus, the retirement of a good man Colin Powell, yet executive privilege for liars and thieves as they defy congress.
In conclusion, the current problems will continue to exist and they are; inflation, false banking and mortgage practices, unemployment and shipping jobs out, two wars, failed energy policy, failed foreign policy, disaster preparedness failures, high run-away medical costs and local and state governments that tax without consequence, all for the sake of a deflated buck.
This legacy of lies will continue until Americans stand up and hold all elected and appointed officials accountable to promote domestic tranquility as We The People are the government.
