TALLAHASSEE - During their annual summer conference this week at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, the 67 Sheriffs of Florida elected Susan Benton to lead the 2009 slate of officers for the 115-year-old organization.
Benton is the group's first female chair, and one of two elected female sheriffs in the history of the state.
Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris was named president, and Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is the vice chair.
Benton also serves on the district 4 board of trustees.
