'Art On The Waterfront' A Big Success

SEBRING — Last weekend's Highlands Art League fundraiser, "Art on the Waterfront," which attracted about 150 art patrons to the home of Martile and Tim Blackman, was a financial success.
Alice Stroppel, art league executive director, said the event included live paintings by Janet King and Alice Hansen, plus an auction.
Income from the non-profit organization's fourth annual benefit at the Blackman's exceeded last year's tally of $16,000 by several thousand dollars, though a final count was not yet available, said Stroppel on Wednesday.
The funding generated will help finance ongoing renovations to a visual arts center, which will greatly expand the league's display and class space.
The visual arts center, housed in the former Magnolia Restaurant, is slated to become the third usable structure in the four building complex on Lakeview Drive.
