SEBRING — A Key Largo woman was in serious condition Tuesday after she was ejected from her Honda sports utility vehicle Monday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Joan F. Ewing, 78, was not buckled in her seat belt, at about 8 a.m. Monday, when she over corrected the SUV attempting to avoid another vehicle on southbound U.S. 27, about a mile south of U.S. 98, according to a report by FHP trooper Ed Finneran.
She reportedly swerved onto the west paved shoulder, skidded across both southbound lanes onto the grassy median and onto the northbound lanes onto the east grass shoulder.
The SUV then overturned four times before coming to rest on its roof. Ewing was ejected as it flipped.
No charges had been filed by the patrol by the time the report was released.
Ewing was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
