SEBRING — Three Avon Park women were free Wednesday on $1,500 bail each after they were arrested in connection with the theft of merchandise from the Lakeshore Mall Kmart store.
Tamisha Lekeyisha Culbreth, 20, of 407 Tulane Drive; and Vashonda Shayze Highman, 20, and Bryanna Andrell Roper, 18, both of 217 E. Cornell St., were each charged with grand theft $300 or more to facilitate shoplifting and resisting property recovery by a retail merchant.
A sheriff's arrest report stated that at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Highman and Culbreth removed $732.43 in merchandise from the store, setting off store alarms and pushing their way past customers, ignoring orders from two store employees to stop.
They reportedly entered a maroon vehicle, throwing the merchandise inside and drove away from the scene.
Avon Park police stopped the vehicle, driven by Roper at East Booker Street, in Avon Park. Highman and Culbreth were inside along with numerous Kmart bags and loose items inside.
Many of the items, including a comforter set and a stroller, were identified by store employees; some items still had the Kmart store tags attached.
Roper reportedly told investigators that all the items in the vehicle were from her home, the report stated.
All three women have been banned from Kmart and the Lakeshore Mall and its properties, the report stated.
