I wish to personally say thank you to all the good citizens who took the time to come out on Sept. 9 to the Remembrance Tribute to that tragic day on 9/11 held at Heron's Garden in Lake Placid.
We had a nice crowd, a little disappointing that there were not more that attended, but very appreciative of the patriotic minded folks that did come out. The speakers all were great and gave a lot of good thoughts for all of us to ponder on. How thankful we should all be for the freedom that we still have in this great land of ours.
It only takes a moment in time to change things. May our nation never have to go through this type of tragedy again. There is enough turmoil in this land as it is that we can hardly control. But if we all stick together as a loving nation we can overcome all adversities in this life and work for the betterment of mankind.
I wish also to say a big thanks to my helpers from the VFW 3880; Kathy, Mary Ann, Sally, Joy, and my husband Chuck. It takes a lot of hard work and willing volunteers to put on a tribute such as this. Special thanks to Eileen May, CEO of Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce and also Stanford Wright, owner of Heron's Gardens. Your kindness is not overlooked.
We were blessed with a lovely morning and a nice gentle breeze so we must have been doing something right. Thanks again to all who came and to all the firemen, policemen, bugler, bagpipe player and all that participated. We love you all.
May God bless America and keep her free.
