From all angles, our first Avon Park Pioneer Homecoming Picnic, held Aug. 18, was a success. Our aim was to create a community-wide event, and many in the community not only attended, they also supported our efforts.
This support came from private individuals and from the Avon Park business community. These businesses include: The Depot Restaurant and Catering, the Olympic Restaurant, Robert King Realty, Maxwell Groves, Jimmy's Flower Shop, Rent King and C. Elton Crews Inc.
Thanks, too, to the many folks who before and during the picnic, supported us by opening up their wallets and rolling up their shirtsleeves. Also, a thank you to Highlands Today for the fine coverage of the picnic.
