For The Good Of Our Country

Published: October 22, 2007

Just a reminder, now is the time to be listening to presidential forums and debates, so we can be as informed as possible. Through prayer, listening and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can be prepared to know how to vote when Election Day comes. Do remember to pray that God will send us godly candidates who will seek His will as they guide this great country.

Let us all remember that each of us have a responsibility for our nation. The Bible tells us to watch as well as pray. As I watched a Republican presidential forum on channel three, I was encouraged by several of their platforms. They were discussing issues of importance which are necessary to get our country going in the direction God would be pleased with. Some actually had plans for getting things done.

Don't forget to thank God for answered prayer. I know He is at work, but as He leads, it is our responsibility and privilege to follow. He is not a dictator, but a Heavenly Father who is pleased to give us the heart to follow Him.

I think most of us would agree that our country has been going down hill for a number of years, but I'm so thankful He is a forgiving God and always wants the best for His children. 11 Chronicles 7:14 tell us, if we will humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then will He hear from Heaven and heal our land. This is the challenge we face. John 1:1 tells us that "In the beginning was the word (Bible) and the word was with God and the Word was God." Verse 14 of the same chapter tells us "The Word was made flesh (Jesus) and dwelt among us." Without studying His Word, we lack wisdom to do what He wants us to do. Of course, if we are not a Christian, we will lack understanding. The Holy Spirit comes into our heart when we become a Christian and will give us understanding, and guide us as we follow Him. We must never give up; we must continue to seek His will and follow where He leads. May God bless each of us, inspire us as what He would have us do, in Christian love.
